If meet F2F or know them online, add

else
Don’t add if:
They are spamming.
They have not updated.
They do not have a profile/blog?
They following lots of people, 1,000+.
Most of their tweets are not in English.

If they get this far, then it gets subjective:
Location, WA more likely than the rest of Oz, which is more likely than rest of world.
Do they work in web, libraries or education?
Do they follow some of the people I do?
Am I in a good mood?

But most important
Are their tweets interesting?

I also look at their ratio of follows to followers and then at who else they are following. If they are following similar people to me then I have no troubles adding them. If they are following a whole different set, then I have a look at their timeline with others and assess it from there.

I’m very picky..

Have they updated, If no, don’t add.
Are they spamming? If yes, don’t add.
Do they have a profile/blog? If no, don’t add.
Is the ratio of follows double the followers? If yes, don’t add.
Have I met them F2F or they are recommended? If yes – add.
Are they web industry people? If yes – add.

Its not a hard and fast set of rules..
