BRW Digital Edition

February 29, 2008

Ross Dawson was gracious enough to mention myself and Scouta to BRW the other day.

Dawson also rates Scouta, an Australian-developed system that allows users to bookmark favourite online audio and video sites, then delivers personalised recommendations. It also provides several ways to make sharing favourite online audio and video simple.

Scouta, developed by Richard Giles, has a two-pronged business model: online consumer delivery and as a site engine for others to use.

He had much more to say, and it’s worth grabbing the magazine. You can also read a little more on Ross’s blog:

Twitter on IRC

February 19, 2008

A few days ago I suggested that an IRC Twitter channel would work quite well. By the time I’d jumped on m0nty had opened that channel. It’s been alive ever since, and just keeps growing.

I enjoy using Twitter, and through the day it really works for me: quick snippets of mine and everyone else’s life. But on an evening, if I have more time, it’s great to get involved in chat that’s a bit more real time.

Shave or Wax?

February 15, 2008

I’m thinking of participating in 2008’s World’s Greatest Shave. For some reason it seemed to get into my head this year.

However, some Twitter folk have suggested that I wax my chest instead. My current thinking is, “whatever raises the most money for the Leukaemia Foundation.”

So, with that in mind, I thought I’d run a poll to see what most people would suggest.

Poll

Update: I figure we’ll show the process and results on Scouta TV.

Carnival for Startups in Australia

February 5, 2008

Vishal Sharma, who compiled the list of top Australian web 2.0 companies last year, has started carnival for startups in Australia.

Sounds like a fascinating idea, and I’m looking forward to more exposure for Aussie startups.

Mmmm…..that’ll get me thinking. :)
