
Boing Boing points out that the One laptop Per Child organisation is selling laptops to the public for a limited time: November 12 to 26. Not only that, but if you buy one, you will “donate the revolutionary XO laptop to a child in a developing nation.”
I love that offer. I’d love to see every kid, in every nation with a laptop like this. Imagine how empowering that will be!
The offer is currently only good for Canada and US residents, but I was really tempted to take up the offer some how.

If you know someone with a US postal address you could try and order one. I know when Chumby’s were released to US residents only they actually checked that the cresit cards were US based as well, so it might not work. Probably worth a try.
It is such a great offer that it’s a pity we can’t support it here in Australia. There are plenty of us who would buy one and donate one - it just means more computers donated to kids in need! Surely that is a win-win situation?
I’m assuming the restriction must be in place because of availability …
