Friday the 13th isn’t the date I planned for my last day at Sun Microsystems. After nine years I figured I’d leave on a plainer day. Still, there must be something about the date–it’s also the day the local government department registered the business name Clique Communications for me: a complete coincidence.

I left because I believe that the Internet is in the middle of another fundimental shift, the focus if moving swiftly back to people, not commerce. Activities, applications, and companies like blogging, podcasting, Flickr, del.icio.us, and 37signals are all demonstrating that the cluetrain has come to town. Organisations can no longer ignore their customers, because as a collective, the customer’s voice is louder.

Clique Communications is all about helping an organisation work with their communities. What the hell is a cluetrain, how can I get on, what stops can I expect along the way, where am I going anyway, and should I bring a towel? Clique’s aim is to be a guide.
