Odeo has finally made the beta of its podcasting tool available to the public.
I’ve had access to the beta for several months, and have tested the tool a little. There is a couple of features that makes it standout from the other “directories”. User tagging of shows is available just like Flickr and del.icio.us. That’s incredibly smart because it makes sharing and searching a lot easier. It also has recording right in the browser.
My opinion is that to make a compelling podcast you need more than just the ability to record and slice and dice tracks. The more podcasts I listen to the more obvious it becomes that there are two elements to a great podcast. Something that makes it different from all the others, a little hook to draw people in, and good audio quality. So will this get used?
