Google’s new foray into Social Software, orkut, has been the catalyst for three things. Firstly, a significant increase in discussion about what a fantastic technology Social Networks are. Secondly, an amazing increase in the use of Social Software. Thirdly, a huge backlash on Social Software.
Why is that the case, given that Friendster, LinkedIn, etc., have been around for months. In-fact, it’s gotten to such a point that you can find a great list in the post How Many Social Nets Are Too Many?, at thesocialsoftwareweblog. That’s right, a blog about Social Software.
My guess is that Social Software is at the cusp of the Chasm. Will it be adopted by the masses?

Hello,
( It has been 4 years since your post)
Since then I think we have seen sites and more (MySpace, FaceBook, Linked in) They have proved to be a great way to meet people and if you have not done so already, check them out… but do to their enormity and non-business connective nature, they fall short in creating environments for businesses looking to connect with customers. They’re more focused on a personal… interconnectivity, which is great!…but it leaves a tremendous gap for businesses seeking new customers.
What does this all mean you?
These companies shortcomings have paved the way for newer… smaller… more specialized niche sites, in niche markets. Creating a new revolution in social networking, that is laser focused specifically for businesses, to connect with customers, in better ways than ever seen before! And, this new form of connectivity is why RentKong is a pioneer in the Real Estate community. RentKong fills the Social Chasm, by connecting Real Etstae Professionals , with renters.
