Azure Wireless will announce next month their wireless hotspots and Resellers for their wireless networks for Melbourne. Late this year they will have Sydney and next year they will Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide and Perth. See the article, Melbourne start-up brings wireless broadband home, from ZDNet.
Will they fair better than their U.S. counterparts.
Microsoft have made their move into the wireless hardware business with the announcement of their branded Wireless base station, Wireless Universal Serial Bus Adapter, Wireless Notebook Adapter, two kits, with a base station and either a USB adapter or notebook adapter, and five Ethernet-based products that connect computers to each other and the Internet through wire connections.

Images of Iraq’s buildings that possibly host research into nuclear and biological weapons can be found on the web at GlobalSecurity.org, the images are at this link.
“Some of the buildings at Tuwaitha that were associated with Iraq’s clandestine nuclear weapons program at the time of the Gulf War in 1991 have been destroyed and not reconstructed. Other buildings that were associated with the pre-Gulf War nuclear weapons program remain in active use, though the current activities at these buildings cannot be verified with satellite imagery.“

One more person in the world that demonstrates why we should pay close attention to the “To” and “CC” field of our email. It seems that the below email is travelling around the world faster than you can say “Nimda Virus”.

Speaking of Bon Jovi (what a great segway)….
Finally a record label starts to understand the term “value add” and how it relates to reducing the issue of copying copyright media. The new Bon Jovi album, Bounce, comes with a serial number that allows you to register for “unreleased music, messages from the band, and, best of all, the chance to buy Bon Jovi concert tickets through Ticketmaster in select cities in the U.S., Canada, and Europe before they go on sale to the public”.
Archeologists get so excited about the little things.
‘The Great Pyramid shaft has been blocked for centuries by a chunk of limestone that has copper handles and may have been wedged into the shaft by pyramid builders after they used it as a polishing tool.
Around 5 a.m. Tuesday Egypt time, with Hawass and television viewers watching, the robot sent a camera through a small hole drilled in the block only to encounter another stone blocking the way.
Hawass, head of the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities and a National Geographic explorer-in-residence, was excited nonetheless.
“We can see another sealed door,” he said over the shrieks of his team members and television crew crowded into the chamber. “It looks to me like it is sealing something. It seems that something important is hidden there.
“This is one of the first major discoveries in the Great Pyramid in some 130 years, and now what we need is time for further analysis,” he said.’
Nuff said.
Here is a poll for visitors. I’m thinking of getting a laptop, and have asked around for suggestions. The two that I am favouring are the Apple PowerBook or a Sony Vaio. I know the selection is limited, but I’d appreciate if those that have experience with either would vote or post a comment. Or both. I’m happy to hear from people who may suggest another alternative, as long as it is backed with your reasons.
Thanks.
UPDATE - October 2002 - I chose an Apple PowerBook. I’d highly recommend it. Email me if you would like to know why.
